Dr Peter Penson is a Reader in Cardiovascular Pharmacology within the School of Pharmacy and Biomolecular Sciences at Liverpool John Moores University where he is Leader of the Clinical Pharmacy and Therapeutics Research Group. He began his career in pharmacology at the (then) Welsh School of Pharmacy (MPharm, PhD) under the supervision of Professor Ken Broadley, leading to a life-long fascination for the cardiovascular system. His research focuses on hypertension, dyslipidaemias and ischaemia-reperfusion injury. He is primarily involved in observational studies, clinical trials and meta-analysis. He is a member of the International Lipid Expert Panel and he works with many international experts in the Lipid and Blood Pressure Meta-Analysis Collaboration Group. Peter is an Honorary Research Associate at University of Liverpool, UK and an active member of the Liverpool Centre for Cardiovascular Science. He is Editor in Chief of Expert Review of Clinical Pharmacology. Peter is a practicing pharmacist. He is a fellow of The European Society of Cardiology and the Higher Education Academy.
